Clio & Nina
WHO IS CLIO & NINA?
Clio and Nina are part of the Hero Kids 2025–2026 cohort, a youth initiative from One Ocean Planet that empowers the next generation to take action for the ocean and the planet.
They are currently completing their first certification on single-use plastics through SUPER (Single Use Plastic Elimination & Reduction), an organisation founded by Manuela Maqueda.
Single Use Plastic
It pollutes the ocean for centuries
Most single-use plastics take hundreds of years to break down.
It harms marine wildlife
Animals often mistake plastic for food or become entangled in it.
It breaks into microplastics
Plastic never truly disappears it becomes tiny particles that spread everywhere.
It enters the food chain
Microplastics are now found in fish, seafood, water and even human bodies.
It contributes to climate change
Plastic production and disposal release large amounts of greenhouse gases.
It threatens ocean ecosystems
Plastic pollution damages habitats and weakens the health of marine ecosystems.
